She had been abandoned, and had obviously been a pet. We already have four rescues and I was planning

to find a home for her. But then my wife saw her and instantly fell in love with her, so now we have five.

We took her to the vet and found she had no microchip and hasn't been neutered.

She got checked for viruses and is in the clear. She also got a shampoo and grooming session but wasn't too happy about it. Maybe her first time.

It's a mystery why people get pets and then abandon them.

Still, their loss is our gain.

She's a very sweet, quiet and calm lady, two or three years old. We aim to give her the life she deserves.

Edit: I thought I'd uploaded multiple pictures but I didn't. Please check the comments for more pictures of her.

Also, we gave her the name 'Penny', because she's the colour (now) of a shiny new penny.

Further edit: I wasn't expecting this to blow up so much, thanks to everyone for the kind words and the awards.

And thanks to everyone who shared their rescue stories, you're the best of humans.

Public-Variety5424 A global law should be introduced, under which if you

By the way, what a lovely cat: orange cats, along with void cats, are my weakness.

who can do that to an animal and just move on with their lives. Irredeemable scum.
